Synopsis
“Very well done - moody and murky - Marc Warren is excellent as the troubled Walker. Pretty bloody terrifying, too”--THE Guardian

Renowned detective Joseph Walker is haunted by a past of violence, passion and betrayal - a past which threatens his ability to hunt down a killer with a terrifying message for the world. Heading up an investigation into a series of gruesome and elaborately staged murders, Joseph is puzzled by the bizarre nature of the killings and the presence of mysterious symbols traced into a layer of sand at each murder scene. To end the killings, Joseph must solve the riddle. But the clock is ticking - are Joseph and his new squad just tracking a criminal or are they themselves part of the murderer’s plan?

An excellent addition to the Messiah series5
Messiah 5 The Rapture does not feature Ken Stott or any of the cast from the previous Messiahs, instead it stars Marc Warren (Hustle)and features a brand new investigation team. Marc Warren and the rest of the cast do an excellent job playing troubled detective Joseph Walker. Messiah 5 sees Walker an his team investigating a series of killings with mysterious symbols left in sand by the victims.

Like the other series Messiah 5 moves at a good pace and I quickly got used to Marc Warren being in it and no Ken Stott. There are a number of good twists and I did not guess who the killer was this time. I only guessed the killer in Messiah 2 and 4. There are no extras on the dvd which is a little dissapointing. Hopefully they will make Messiah 6 soon - it would be nice if it had both Marc Warren and Ken Stott in it. So if like me you enjoy a good murder mystery then Messiah 5 The Rapture is well worth watching.

messiah series 54
storyline was very good as you would expect from the 'messiah' production team. marc warren brought his own character to life very well, but he is no ken stott who played in the first 4 series. having said that, if you enjoyed the first four, i would recommend this dvd as well.

What I can remember3
I have been waiting for this to be released since it was on the BBC last year..before I say anything can I make one thing clear, Ken Stott or ANY of the team from the previous four are NOT, I repeat, NOT in this one. Marc Warren takes over the lead role in this and does a good job. However, the majority of the first part of the episode (from what I can remember) was spent introducing him and his past. Maybe Ken Stott or the others couldn't or didn't want to do another Messiah and Mar Warren is good in it. However, compared to the others, even the storyline and the murders and the subsequent reveal at the end wasn't as good as it could have been.

When and I mean WHEN this finnally gets released I will re-review and give it a better review. At the moment, having not seen it in ages, I can only go that far
