About the Author
Lisa Jane Smith is the author of more than twenty books for young adults, including the Night World and Vampire Diaries series (Hodder) and the trilogies The Forbidden Game and Dark Visions (Scholastic). Since childhood she has been fascinated by the night and the way the ordinary world changes in moonlight. She lives in Northern California, in a rambling house in a small town.

Night Creatures with a difference.
I borrowed the Night World books Vols 1 - 3 (9 stories) from my granddaughter to go on holiday and I couldn't put them down until I had finished them, I am hoping there is a Vol 4 as the story was not finished.
They are not your usual vampire horror stories as portrayed in the films, when you've seen one you've seen them all.
These stories which are all interlinked working towards the final battle of good vampires, werewolves, witches etc. against evil ones trying to extinguish the human race so they can rule the world and come out of hiding.
There is fighting and killing but also romance between species when they find their 'soulmates' all trying to come together to protect each other and also the human race.
I have never written a review before so its probably not very informative, but if you like stories with a difference that are well written and you can visualise the characters while reading, I would recommend you invest in buying the Night World Vol. 1 by L.J.Smith.

Night World vs Twilight (Night World = gripping from the start, excellent series)
A friend recommended the Night World books to me after I told her how much I enjoyed reading the Twilight books. My friend said that if I liked the Twilight books, I would love the Night World Books!

I loved the night World books; I thought that they were gripping from the very start and each story had a very good storyline. I was sad when I finished reading all the Night World books as I was so engrossed in the stories I was sad that there was no more to read! I have since moved onto other books by the same author (The Secret Circle), which are equally as gripping. L J Smith is an amazing author!!!


I would highly recommend this book, not just to teenagers but to adults also.
